Sida visited RESLOG Turkey’s Çukurova Pilot Municipalities

Resilience in Local Governance Turkey Project (RESLOG Turkey) hosted colleagues from Sida in Adana, Turkey Resilience in Local Governance Turkey Project (RESLOG Turkey) showcases the best practices from the field, while approaching to the end of a three-year successful implementation
period. During a 2 days field visit, The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) representatives Lucy Andrade and Christoffer Burnett Cargil were accompanied by Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and RESLOG teams. Adana Metropolitan Municipality’s kitchen and culinary arts course, Seyhan Municipality’s knowledge houses, Sarıçam Municipality’s parks, Mezitli Municipality’s volunteer houses and citizen assemblies were visited by the delegation. The municipal teams, Syrian and Turkish stakeholders were interviewed. The delegation also met with Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer and
Seyhan Municipality Mayor Akif Kemal Akay. Resilience in Local Governance (RESLOG) is a Project, started in 2018, that aims to strengthen the capacity of local government systems by increasing resilience in accordance with the principles of peacefulness and inclusiveness. RESLOG is carried out by the Swedish Local Authorities and Regions Association (SALAR), through its affiliate SKL-International and funded by the Swedish Government through Sida. RESLOG Turkey is being implemented in cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT), Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU) and Çukurova Municipalities Union (CMU) at 12 pilot municipalities in Marmara and Çukurova regions and with participation of 15 other municipalities from around Turkey. With its partners and pilot and affiliated municipalities, RESLOG Turkey aims to contribute to national migration policies that reflect local realities and needs, to strengthen inter- municipal learning and support structures through regional associations and to improve holistic planning and governance at municipal level.
