Strengthening Dialogue meeting series of RESLOG Turkey’s Mayors Migration Platform continues with its third meeting hosted by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.
Within the scope of RESLOG Turkey and in cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Turkey, The Mayors Migration Platform continues to work on the Migration Policy Paper that reflects the local problems and needs while providing realistic and applicable policy recommendations
The third meeting of the “Municipalities in Migration Governance: Strengthening the Dialogue” series was held on 1-2 December 2022. The meeting was hosted by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality under the coordination of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Directorate of Migration Management and the Union of Municipalities of Turkey.
The opening speeches of the two-day event were made by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey, Project and Finance Unit Manager Cemal BAŞ, SALAR International, General Manager Ryan KNOX, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Deputy Secretary General Dr. M. Abdullah AKSOY, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Directorate of Migration Management, General Director of Harmonization and Communication, Dr. Gökçe OK and Gaziantep Governorship, Deputy Governor Cengiz KARABULUT.
With the participation of representatives of the central and local units of public institutions and organizations, Mayors Migration Platform member municipalities’ teams and the academicians; the role of municipalities in migration management, social cohesion and co-habitation, local economic development and coordination and cooperation for migration management were discussed.
