Roads Enhancement in Dreib Al-Awsat

To secure indirect financial support for Dreib Al-Awsat union of municipalities, SALAR International invested in a community-based service project.

As road safety issues and the number of accidents were increasing, SALAR International responded to the union of municipalities prioritized need and initiated a project of roads enhancement, establishing a network of volunteers dedicated to supporting members municipalities in responding to emergencies.

This enhancement included acquiring first aid, fire fighting, and other road related safety measures and capacities for preventive risks management by the municipal police, civil defense volunteers, and community members from different genders and nationalities. The training also included a soft component such as leadership and conflict resolution.

 

Outcome: Bringing people together was the highlight of this project; Lebanese and Syrian men and women were united for a good cause. Municipalities also collaborated in providing venues for the training. Women, in general, were very motivated; they were eager to learn and striving to know how to respond appropriately to save themselves and their families when an emergency happens.
